Unused Account Ferret Security Related Security for Windows

Helps network administrators identify and remove unused accounts.
Unused Account Ferret helps you to find, disable and delete old users and computer accounts in Active Directory. It queries all the domain controllers to determine which accounts have not been used for a specified number of days.

Many organizations have procedures in place for removing user accounts that are no longer required. If the above procedures are not followed in each instance, then some accounts may remain active for months or years after the account owner has left the organization.

Here are some key features of “Unused Account Ferret”:

· Fast Ferret algorithm – The Fast Ferret algorithm improves scan performance by reducing the number of queries sent to the domain controllers.
· Account resource cleanup – UAF can automatically delete a user’s Microsoft Exchange mailbox when their account is deleted. The user’s home folder can also be moved or deleted at the same time.
· Ignore list Administrators can exclude accounts or groups from the scan by adding them to the ignore list.
· Computer account scanning – UAF can identify and remove unused computer accounts (also known as workstation accounts).
· Delayed scanning – UAF can start a domain scan after a specified number of hours. This allows network administrators to run scans outside business hours.

Requirements:

· 5 Megabytes free disk space
· 32 Megabytes RAM

Limitations:

· In demo mode UAF only displays account names that begin with the letter A.
